As the opening event for Phoenix Cooks! 2010, the Friday Night ‘Flavors of the World’ Reception will be a star-studded culinary evening under the stars at the Meritage Steakhouse and Patios of the Desert Ridge. The culinary creations will be exquisitely paired with Dewar’s Scotch cocktails, creating a one-of-a-kind libation experience.

2010 Flavors of the World Reception Menu

Station One

“Mozzarella bar”
Burrata, hand pulled mozzarella, mozzarella di bufala
Heirloom Tomato , eggplant copanada with roasted red pepper, basil pesto, marinated olives
Grilled Ciabatta Bread, bread sticks
Queen Creek Olive Oil

Station 2

Chicken tikka wrapped in house made Naan, shredded lettuce, onion, tomato,
Cucumber Raita
Tandoori shrimp, tossed with heirloom lettuce and a green curry dressing, pickled red onion, on a crispy pappadom
Assorted chutney

Paired with DEWAR’S “Diablo” Cocktail
1 ½ parts Dewar’s White Label
2 parts cranberry juice
1 part fresh lemon juice
½ part grenadine
1 part lemon-lime soda
1 part simple syrup
1-2 slices jalapeno

Station 3

Crab cake sliders, Jalapeno remoulade with toasted brioche
BBQ pork slider, citrus coleslaw, fried onions, sliced pickle, Hawaiian bread
Black bean and lentil cake, roasted pepper aioli, green tomato
Fried sweet potato with sea salt and honey pollen
Kennebec potato chips
Hand cut Idaho potato frites with rosemary and parmesan cheese

Paired with ‘Blood and Sand’
1 ½ parts Dewar’s 12yr Old Scotch whisky
1 part Cherry Liqueur
1 part Noilly Prat Rouge Vermouth
Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

Station 4

Pan seared Hanger steak
Asparagus and artichoke salad
Blackberry gastrique

Paired with DEWAR’S Manhattan
2 ½ parts DEWARS 12yr Old Whisky
¾ parts Martini & Rossi sweet vermouth
1 dash Angostura® bitters
1 maraschino cherry
1 twist orange peel

Station 5

American BBQ station
Smoked pork loin, sweet corn succotash, dark rum BBQ sauce
Chopped brisket sliders, onion, pickle chile relish
Mushroom and leek Mac and cheese

Station 6

German Sausage Station
Bratwurst braised in dark beer with redkraut
Grilled Knackwurst with sauerkraut
Soft potato rolls, assorted mustards

Station 7

Ice cream sandwich station

Paired with Dewar’s Maple Leaf
Paired with 1 part of Dewar’s White Label
1/2 part maple syrup
4 parts coffee
Whipped Cream

The Flavors of the World Reception will be held at the Meritage Steakhouse and Patios of the JW Marriott Desert Ridge from 6:30 - 9:00 pm on Friday, September 3rd.
